First-Time Buyer Tips

  • Make sure your mortgage is pre-approved! Many sellers won't even consider you if you cannot get pre-approved regarding your mortgage. Pre-approval also means that you know how much your monthly payments will be. This can really make or break being able to buy your home!

  • RESEARCH! This is one of the most important aspects of buying a new home! You're not just buying a house but also becoming part of the community. Look into the schools, commercial area, transportation, etc. You never want to regret buying an amazing home.

  • Create a list of your must haves! It's extremely rare to find a home with everything you want. So, it's important to know what you can compromise on and what you must have. Be sure to organize the list with your highest-priority items at the top!

  • Know your budget! Look over your savings, your income, your monthly expenses, and any debts you have. Some sellers may be able to give you some credit or allow some leeway with your offer if you both know exactly what you're working with.

  • Save some money for after you buy! There's not only the money for buying and mortgage, there's also the money for moving in! Set aside some money to buffer you from the costs of furniture, appliances, paint, or even minor repairs.
